Welcome back to the 2015–2016 school year! Bard College came back into session at the end of August, and the Bard Math Circle is eager to continue encouraging local students to enjoy mathematics and excel.

The Bard Math Circle bridges the gap between academic and recreational mathematics; critical thinking skills learned here are applicable both at school and in general.

Each month we travel to local libraries to inspire middle school students with math games, puzzles, and interesting problems. We encourage exploration of mathematics outside of the typical school curriculum.

Our library programs are run on a drop-in basis, and no registration is required. We do ask students to sign in each time, and to provide their name, grade and school.

Creative problem solving is encouraged! We host several national contests that expose top math students to challenges beyond the school curriculum. In the weeks before each contest, Bard math majors run problem solving workshops to help students prepare. After the contests, students are rewarded with an engaging math talk by a Bard mathematician.

All contests take place on the Bard College campus, and students must register in advance. If you’re subscribed to our contest updates, you’ll receive the announcements for when the contest registration opens.

It’s not a camp! Our Creative and Analytical Math Program is a one-week academic day program devoted to mathematical enrichment for inspired middle school students. Our next C.A.M.P. will take place August 22–26, 2016 at Bard College.
