Welcome! Here is our amazing 2024 CAMP staff.

Japheth Wood
co-Director / Math Instructor
I’m Japheth Wood (he/him), the Bard Math CAMP co-director, and a math professor at Bard College. CAMP (which is an acronym for Creative and Analytical Math Program) is a very special week of the year for our young math community. It's inspiring to see our students return year after year. This is our 11th summer of CAMP! We're back once again on the idyllic Bard College campus in Annandale-on-Hudson, and thankful to the CAMP students, parents, and staff, for making this mathemagical week happen. Notably, we've (finally) had our first CAMP reunion this past June, an event that I know will grow to be an integral part of what we do.
Frances Stern
co-Director / Math Instructor
My name is Frances Stern (she/her/hers)! I’ve been teaching math at CAMP since the first year, naking sure our math theme has a connection to art and computer. It’s fun to show students math that they don’t see in school. I've retired from daily teaching but continue to teach for the New York Math Circle & students who are seeking more math in their lives. My hobbies include learning to draw, paint, & juggle, reading, walking & folk dancing. I’ve written 2 books for teachers and parents called “Adding Math, Subtracting Tension” (for different age-ranges of children). They pay as much attention to how to keep out of a fight (what many parents told me is a problem) as they do to math.
Yulia Genkina
Senior Staff / CS Instructor
My name is Yulia Genkina, any pronouns work. I’m really excited to be teaching Computer Science at CAMP this year. In the past, I worked as a math and computer science educator, theater technician, and musician. Bringing art, hands-on problem-solving and exact sciences together is one of my favorite approaches to education. I can’t wait to share it with all of you this summer! For the past few years I have been working as an educator in the Tech industry, creating training and learning experiences for software engineers. Bard is my alma mater and C.A.M.P. has been keeping me connected to it for the past several years. It reminds me and emphasizes how Bard really is “a place to think”. In my free time, I like rock-climbing, volunteering for the circus, making crafts, and dancing.
Shoshi Cohen
Senior Staff/ Art Instructor
My name is Shoshi and I currently attend Skidmore College, where I'm majoring in English and Art History. I have been participating in Bard Math activities for quite a few years now, including Bard Math Circle and Bard Math CAMP as a camper myself. This year will be my fourth year working at Bard Math CAMP, and I am very excited to be back!
Natalia Dziubelski
CAMP Coordinator
My name is Natalia Dziubelski (she/her/hers). I'm a recent graduate of Bard College and conservatory where I studied physics and french horn performance. This summer, I am working as the Bard Math CAMP coordinator. I have worked with the Bard Math Circle through the majority of my time at Bard, both as a math tutor, and as the STEM tutor network coordinator. I'm looking forward to being a part of CAMP this summer!
Jaelyn Quilizapa
CAMP Blogger
My name is Jaelyn Quilizapa (she/her), and I'm a 5th year undergraduate student at Bard College and Conservatory, studying Poetry and Music Performance (Percussion). In my spare time, I enjoy playing video games, drawing, and rearranging pop music for voice and percussion! I'm so excited to be a part of the staff this year and I'm looking forward to everything the Bard Math CAMP has to offer!
Mason Eyler
Junior Staff/TA
My name is Mason Eyler (He/Him). I'm an incoming college freshman, and will be working as a TA this year. I am a camp alumni, and was a high school volunteer last year. I also helped prepare students for the AMC8 contest. My hobbies include running and hiking. Can't wait to meet everyone!
Shiven Dabhi
Junior Staff/ TA
My name is Shiven Dabhi (he/him) and I’m a rising high school senior from Wappingers Falls. This will be my third year as a part of CAMP staff, and I’m excited to be returning as a TA this year. I’ve been involved with the Bard Math Circle for the past 6 years with various math contests and as a former CAMPer. At CAMP, I enjoyed being able to learn about complex topics and work on them in an interdisciplinary manner. I look forward to furthering this unique learning approach as a part of staff this year. In my free time this past year, I researched electric drone propulsion technology that has no moving parts and ran a nonprofit that empowers youth to pursue their goals in STEM. I've always been fascinated by the way things work and seeing how different types of technology can come together to form a cohesive idea. Some of my other hobbies are cinematography, photography, coding, tennis, music, and 3D animation. I can’t wait to meet everyone at CAMP this summer!
Gemma Rothschild
HS Volunteer
My name is Gemma Rothschild (she/her) and I am a rising high school junior in NYC. I attended CAMP for many years as a student, and was a high school volunteer last year.  Some of my hobbies are tennis and playing tabla. I also work with 4th and 5th grade students to prepare for math competitions and began a math puzzle magazine for lower schoolers at my school. I am so excited to learn and teach more at CAMP this summer!
Shaylen Bhatt
HS Volunteer
Hi! My name is Shaylen Bhatt (he/him). This fall, I will be a senior at John Jay High School in Hopewell Junction. After being a student at CAMP from 2017 to 2020, I’m excited to return this year as a high school volunteer on the staff team. I’ve also participated in the Bard Math Circle through the AMC exams. Some of my hobbies include drone photography, flight simulation, playing tennis, and playing piano and cello. In college, I plan to major in aeronautical engineering with the goal of designing more efficient and sustainable aircraft. At school, I’m very active in the Science Olympiad club, where I serve as the co-president for builds, and I enjoy competing in the engineering events throughout the year. Additionally, I’m an avid member and officer of my school’s Mu Alpha Theta chapter and Math Team. For the past two years, several students from my school, including myself, were proud to represent the DUSO team at the statewide NYSSML competition. Recently, I conducted research with a robotics engineering professor at Widener University, focusing on deploying a longer-lasting industry-sized drone. I enjoy applying math and science to my engineering passions, and I look forward to sharing my interests with all of you at CAMP this year!
Ariella Cohen
